The Hymn to Lord Shiva
आङ्गिरस उवाच ।
Thus spoke Angirasa
1
जय शङ्कर शान्त शशाङ्करुचे रुचिरार्थद सर्वद सर्वशुचे ।
शुचिदत्त गृहीत महोपहृते हृतभक्तजनोद्धततापतते ॥
Hail to Sankara, the blissful, whose light resembles moon, who bestows beautiful objects of desire, who is always pure, who presents pure objects, who receives great offerings, and who drives away the sufferings which torment the devotees.

ततसर्वहृदम्बर वरदनते नतवृजिनमहावन दाहकृते ।
कृतविविधचरित्रतनो सुतनो तनुविशिखविशोषणधैर्यनिधे ॥
The one who wears all hearts as ornaments, who grants boons to those who bow down, who burns away the dense forest of sins, who has performed diverse wondrous deeds, who is resplendent, and who is the treasure of courage that parches even Cupid's arrows.

निधनादिविवर्जितकृतनतिकृत्कृतिविहितमनोरथपन्नगभृत् ।
नगभर्तृसुतार्पितवामवपुः स्ववपुःपरिपूरितसर्वजगत् ॥
He who is devoid of actions such as destruction, who accepts salutations, who fulfills all the desires of those who have sought refuge in him, who holds the serpent, whose fair form was offered by the daughter of the mountain-king, and whose form pervades the entire universe.

त्रिजगन्मयरूप विरूप सुदृग्दृगुदञ्चनकुञ्चन कृतहुतभुक् ।
भवभूतपते प्रमथैकपते पतितेष्वपि दत्तकरप्रसृते ॥
The one whose form encompasses the three worlds, who appears formless to ordinary sight, whose rolling eyes are splendid, who accepts ritual offerings, the Lord of beings, the sole Lord of the Ganas, who extends his hand even to the fallen.

प्रसूताखिलभूतलसंवरणप्रणवध्वनिसौधसुधांशुधर ।
वरराजकुमारिकया परया परितः परितुष्ट नतोऽस्मि शिव ॥
The one who creates and envelopes all beings, who bears the moon that is the nectar mansion emitting the sound of Om, I bow to Shiva who is immensely pleased by the supreme daughter of the noble king who worships from all sides.

शिवदेव गिरीश महेश विभो विभवप्रद गिरिश शिवेशमृड ।
मृडयोडुपतिध्र जगत्त्रितयं कृतयन्त्रणभक्तिविघातकृताम् ॥
O Auspicious Lord, Lord of the Mountains, Great Lord, Almighty, Bestower of Prosperity, O Mountain Lord, Benevolent Lord of Auspiciousness, Consort of Uma (daughter of Himavan), Lord holding the moon, Protector of the three worlds, destroyer of the obstacles faced by your devotees.

न कृतान्त त एष बिभेमि हर प्रहराशु महाघममोघमते ।
न मतान्तरमन्यदवैनि शिवं शिवपादनतेः प्रणतोऽस्मि ततः ॥
O Destroyer of time, I do not fear this great sin, O Hara, strike quickly, O Lord of unfailing intellect! I know no other refuge than you, O Shiva. Therefore, I prostrate at the feet of Shiva.

विततेऽत्र जगत्यखिलेऽघहरं हर तोषणमेव परं गुणवन् ।
गुणहीनमहीनमहावलयं प्रलयान्तकमीश नतोऽस्मि ततः ॥
In this vast expanse of the entire universe, you are the destroyer of sins. O Hara, pleasing you is the supreme virtue. Though devoid of virtues, I the lowly one take refuge in you, the powerful Lord who ends the cosmic dissolution. Therefore, I bow to you.
इति श्रीस्कादपुराणे काशीखण्डे पूर्वार्द्धे सप्तदशाध्यायान्तर्गतं आङ्गीरसकृतं शिवस्तोत्रं समाप्तम् ।
Thus concludes Angirasa's Hymn to Lord Shiva, contained in the seventeenth chapter of the first half of the Kashi Khanda in the glorious Skanda Purana.
