| English (Pickthall) | By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And scatter (things) far and wide; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] |

| English (Yusuf Ali) | Whether of Justification or of Warning;- |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | They descend bringing revelation as a warning from Allah so that He is excused, and warning the people of the punishment of Allah. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Innamaa too'adoona lawaaqi' |
| English (Pickthall) | Surely that which ye are promised will befall. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, what you are promised is to occur. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Indeed, the resurrection, accounting and requital you have been promised is to happen, inevitably. |

| عَرَبِي | فَإِذَا النُّجومُ طُمِسَت |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faitha alnnujoomu tumisat |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa izam nujoomu tumisat |
| English (Pickthall) | So when the stars are put out, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then when the stars become dim; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So when the stars are obliterated |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | When it happens, the stars will suddenly lose their shine, and their light will be extinguished. |

| عَرَبِي | وَإِذَا السَّماءُ فُرِجَت |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waitha alssamao furijat |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa izas samaaa'u furijat |
| English (Pickthall) | And when the sky is riven asunder, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | When the heaven is cleft asunder; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And when the heaven is opened |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The sky will suddenly crack because of the angels descending from it. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa izal jibaalu nusifat |
| English (Pickthall) | And when the mountains are blown away, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And when the mountains are blown away |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The mountains will be suddenly uprooted from their places, and will be made to break up into pieces until they become like dust particles. |

| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waitha alrrusulu oqqitat |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa izar Rusulu uqqitat |
| English (Pickthall) | And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And when the messengers' time has come... |

| English (Pickthall) | And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wailuny yawma 'izillilmukazzibeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Woe unto the repudiators on that day! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Woe, that Day, to the deniers. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Destruction, punishment and loss on that day will be for the rejectors who rejected whatever the Messengers brought from Allah. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Alam nuhlikil awwaleen |
| English (Pickthall) | Destroyed We not the former folk, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Did We not destroy the former peoples? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Did I not destroy the previous nations when they disbelieved in Allah and rejected their Messengers? |

| عَرَبِي | ثُمَّ نُتبِعُهُمُ الآخِرينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Thumma nutbiAAuhumu alakhireena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Summa nutbi'uhumul aakhireen |
| English (Pickthall) | Then caused the latter folk to follow after? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | So shall We make later (generations) follow them. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then We will follow them with the later ones. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Then I followed the rejectors up by sending the later ones into the world, and then destroyed them just as I destroyed those before them. |

| عَرَبِي | كَذٰلِكَ نَفعَلُ بِالمُجرِمينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kazzlika naf'alu bilmujrimeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Thus deal We ever with the guilty. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Thus do We deal with men of sin. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Thus do We deal with the criminals. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Like My destruction of those nations, I will destroy the criminals who reject that which Muhammad (peace be upon him) has brought. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wailunw yawma 'izil lil mukazzibeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Woe unto the repudiators on that day! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Woe, that Day, to the deniers. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Destruction, punishment and loss on that day will be for the rejectors of the warning of Allah of the punishment for the criminals. |

| عَرَبِي | أَلَم نَخلُقكُم مِن ماءٍ مَهينٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Alam nakhluqkum min main maheenin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Alam nakhlukkum mimmaaa'im maheen |
| English (Pickthall) | Did We not create you from a base fluid |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O people! Did I not create you from a small amount of despised fluid, i.e. a drop of semen? |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Faja'alnaahu fee qaraarim makeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Which We laid up in a safe abode |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And We placed it in a firm lodging |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I then put that contemptuous fluid into a safe place i.e. the woman’s womb. |

| English (Yusuf Ali) | For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Faqadarnaa fani'mal qaadiroon |
| English (Pickthall) | Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I then decreed the attributes of that child, its fate, colour etc., so I am a greatly capable of all that. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर हमने अन्दाजा ठहराया, तो हम क्या ही अच्छा अन्दाज़ा ठहरानेवाले है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर (उसका) एक अन्दाज़ा मुक़र्रर किया तो हम कैसा अच्छा अन्दाज़ा मुक़र्रर करने वाले हैं |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर हमने नवजात शिशु का विवरण, भाग्य और रंग-रूप आदि नियत किया। तो हम यह सब कैसे अच्छे नियत करने वाले हैं। |

| English (Pickthall) | Have We not made the earth a receptacle |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | Did I not make the earth capable of holding all the people? |

| عَرَبِي | وَجَعَلنا فيها رَواسِيَ شامِخاتٍ وَأَسقَيناكُم ماءً فُراتًا |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | WajaAAalna feeha rawasiya shamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furatan |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa ja'alnaa feehaa rawaasiya shaamikhaatinw wa asqainaakum maaa'an furaataa |
| English (Pickthall) | And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I also placed high, rooted mountains on it that stop it from shaking. And O people! I provide you with sweet water to drink. So whoever created all that is not incapable of resurrecting you. |

| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तथा हमने उसमें मज़बूत, ऊँचे पहाड़ बनाए, जो उसे हिलने-डुलने से बचाते हैं और हमने तुम्हें (ऐ लोगो) मीठा पानी पिलाया। तो जिसने इन सब को पैदा किया, वह तुम्हें मरने के बाद दोबारा जीवित कर उठाने में विवश नहीं है। |

| عَرَبِي | وَيلٌ يَومَئِذٍ لِلمُكَذِّبينَ |

| English (Pickthall) | (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Laa zaleelinw wa laa yughnee minal lahab |
| English (Pickthall) | (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. |

| English (Pickthall) | Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, |

| English (Pickthall) | (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." |

| English (Pickthall) | This is a day wherein they speak not, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa laa yu'zanu lahum fa ya'taziroon |
| English (Pickthall) | Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Neither will they be given permission to present excuses to their Lord for their disbelief and evils. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Haaza yawmul fasli jama 'naakum wal awwaleen |
| English (Pickthall) | This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. |

| English (Pickthall) | If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So if you have a plan that you may execute to save yourselves from My punishment, try it. |

| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalin waAAuyoonin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Innal muttaqeena fee zilaalinw wa 'uyoon |
| English (Pickthall) | Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Indeed, those who are mindful of their Lord by fulfilling His commands and refraining from the things he has not allowed, they will be in the extending shade of the trees of Paradise, and among sweet, flowing springs. |

| عَرَبِي | وَفَواكِهَ مِمّا يَشتَهونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa fawaakiha mimmaa yashtahoon |
| English (Pickthall) | And fruits such as they desire. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And fruits from whatever they desire, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And among fruits they desire to eat. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kuloo washraboo haneee 'am bimaa kuntum ta'maloon |
| English (Pickthall) | (Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | "Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | [Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And it will be said to them: “Eat from the good, and drink a pleasant, unspoiled drink in return for your good deeds in the world.” |

| عَرَبِي | إِنّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجزِي المُحسِنينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen |
| English (Pickthall) | Thus do We reward the good. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Just as I have requited you with this requital, I requite all those who do good deeds. |

| عَرَبِي | كُلوا وَتَمَتَّعوا قَليلًا إِنَّكُم مُجرِمونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakum mujrimoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kuloo wa tamatta'oo qaleelan innakum mujrimoon |
| English (Pickthall) | Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | (O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | [O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals. |

| عَرَبِي | وَإِذا قيلَ لَهُمُ اركَعوا لا يَركَعونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waitha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo la yarkaAAoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa izaa qeela lahumur ka'oo aa yarka'oon |
| English (Pickthall) | When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | When these rejectors are told: “Perform prayer for Allah”, they do not pray to Him. |

| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और जब इन झुठलाने वालों से कहा जाता है : अल्लाह के लिए नमाज़ पढ़ो, तो वे उसके लिए नमाज़ नहीं पढ़ते। |

| عَرَبِي | وَيلٌ يَومَئِذٍ لِلمُكَذِّبينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wailunny yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Woe unto the repudiators on that day! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | Destruction, punishment and loss on that day will be for the rejectors who rejected whatever the Messengers brought from Allah. |

| عَرَبِي | فَبِأَيِّ حَديثٍ بَعدَهُ يُؤمِنونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fabiayyi hadeethin baAAdahu yuminoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fabi ayyi hadeesim ba'dahoo yu'minoon |

| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then what Message, after that, will they believe in? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then in what statement after the Qur'an will they believe? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So when they do not bring faith in this Qur’ān that was revealed from their Lord, what other speech will they bring faith in? |
