| عَرَبِي | وَاللَّيلِ إِذا يَغشىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waallayli itha yaghsha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wallaili izaa yaghshaa |
| English (Pickthall) | By the night enshrouding |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Night as it conceals (the light); |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | By the night when it covers |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah takes an oath on the night when it covers whatever is between the heavens and the earth with its darkness. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | साक्षी है रात जबकि वह छा जाए, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | रात की क़सम जब (सूरज को) छिपा ले |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | अल्लाह ने रात की क़सम खाई है, जब वह आसमान और ज़मीन के बीच को अपने अंधेरे के साथ ढाँप ले। |
| Ayah 2 |
| عَرَبِي | وَالنَّهارِ إِذا تَجَلّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waalnnahari itha tajalla |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wannahaari izaa tajalla |
| English (Pickthall) | And the day resplendent |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Day as it appears in glory; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the day when it appears |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And Allah takes an oath on the day when it becomes clear and visible. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और दिन जबकि वह प्रकाशमान हो, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और दिन की क़सम जब ख़ूब रौशन हो |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और दिन की क़सम खाई है, जब वह प्रकट होकर प्रकाशमान हो जाए। |
| Ayah 3 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama khalaqa alththakara waalontha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And Him Who hath created male and female, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] He who created the male and female, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And He takes an oath on His creating the two genders: The male and female. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और नर और मादा का पैदा करना, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और उस (ज़ात) की जिसने नर व मादा को पैदा किया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तथा उसने अपने नर और मादा को पैदा करने की क़सम खाई है। |
| Ayah 4 |
| عَرَبِي | إِنَّ سَعيَكُم لَشَتّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Inna saAAyakum lashatta |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Inna sa'yakum lashattaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, your efforts are diverse. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O people! Your actions are different: some are good, which are the causes of entering Paradise, while others are evil, which are the causes of entering the hellfire. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कि तुम्हारा प्रयास भिन्न-भिन्न है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | कि बेशक तुम्हारी कोशिश तरह तरह की है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | (ऐ लोगो) निश्चय तुम्हारे काम अलग-अलग प्रकार के हैं। कुछ अच्छे कर्म हैं, जो जन्नत में प्रवेश करने का कारण हैं, और कुछ बुरे कर्म हैं, जो नरक में प्रवेश करने का कारण हैं। |
| Ayah 5 |
| عَرَبِي | فَأَمّا مَن أَعطىٰ وَاتَّقىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faamma man aAAta waittaqa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa |
| English (Pickthall) | As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | As for he who gives and fears Allah |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | As for the one who gives whatever is necessary for him to spend, i.e. Zakat, financial support and repatriation, and is mindful of that which Allah has prohibited him from. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तो जिस किसी ने दिया और डर रखा, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो जिसने सख़ावत की और अच्छी बात (इस्लाम) की तस्दीक़ की |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर जिसने उस चीज़ को दिया, जिसे देने के लिए वह बाध्य है; जैसे ज़कात, गुज़ारा-भत्ता और कफ़्फ़ारा आदि, और उससे बचा, जिससे अल्लाह ने मना किया है। |
| Ayah 6 |
| عَرَبِي | وَصَدَّقَ بِالحُسنىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wasaddaqa bialhusna |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa saddaqa bil husnaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And believeth in goodness; |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And believes in the best [reward], |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And he believes in the substitute Allah has promised him. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और अच्छी चीज़ की पुष्टि की, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो हम उसके लिए राहत व आसानी |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और अल्लाह ने बदले का जो वादा किया है, उसे सच्चा माना। |
| Ayah 7 |
| عَرَبِي | فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِليُسرىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa |
| English (Pickthall) | Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | We will ease him toward ease. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I shall soon make performing good deeds and spending in My path easy for him. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | हम उस सहज ढंग से उस चीज का पात्र बना देंगे, जो सहज और मृदुल (सुख-साध्य) है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (जन्नत) के असबाब मुहय्या कर देंगे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | हम उसके लिए नेक काम करना और अल्लाह के मार्ग में ख़र्च करना आसान बना देंगे। |
| Ayah 8 |
| عَرَبِي | وَأَمّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاستَغنىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waamma man bakhila waistaghna |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa |
| English (Pickthall) | But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And as for the one who is miserly with his wealth and does not spend it in the avenues necessary for him to spend in, thinking himself to be in no need of Allah and not asking Allah for any of His grace. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | रहा वह व्यक्ति जिसने कंजूसी की और बेपरवाही बरती, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और जिसने बुख्ल किया, और बेपरवाई की |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | रहा वह व्यक्ति जिसने अपने माल में कंजूसी की और उसे उस चीज़ में खर्च नहीं किया, जिसमें उसका ख़र्च करना उसके लिए अनिवार्य था, तथा अपने माल के साथ अल्लाह से बेपरवाह हो गया। इसलिए अल्लाह से उसके अनुग्रह में से कुछ नहीं मांगा। |
| Ayah 9 |
| عَرَبِي | وَكَذَّبَ بِالحُسنىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wakaththaba bialhusna |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa kazzaba bil husnaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And disbelieveth in goodness; |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And gives the lie to the best,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And denies the best [reward], |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Whilst rejecting the substitute and reward Allah has promised him if he spends his wealth in His path. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और अच्छी चीज़ को झुठला दिया, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और अच्छी बात को झुठलाया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और अल्लाह ने उससे प्रतिकार का और अपने रास्ते में धन खर्च करने पर सवाब का जो वादा किया है, उसे झुठलाया। |
| Ayah 10 |
| عَرَبِي | فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلعُسرىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fasanu yassiruhoo lil'usraa |
| English (Pickthall) | Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | We will ease him toward difficulty. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I will soon make performing evil deeds easy for him, and make difficult doing good. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | हम उसे सहज ढंग से उस चीज़ का पात्र बना देंगे, जो कठिन चीज़ (कष्ट-साध्य) है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो हम उसे सख्ती (जहन्नुम) में पहुँचा देंगे, |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | हम उसके लिए बुराई करना आसान बना देंगे और अच्छा काम करना मुश्किल कर देंगे। |
| Ayah 11 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما يُغني عَنهُ مالُهُ إِذا تَرَدّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu itha taradda |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa |
| English (Pickthall) | His riches will not save him when he perisheth. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | His wealth that he is miserly with will not benefit him at all when he dies and enters the hellfire. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और उसका माल उसके कुछ काम न आएगा, जब वह (सिर के बल) खड्ड में गिरेगा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और जब वह हलाक होगा तो उसका माल उसके कुछ भी काम न आएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | जब वह विनष्ट होकर जहन्नम में प्रवेश करेगा, तो उसका वह धन जिसे खर्च करने में उसने कंजूसी की थी, उसके कुछ काम नहीं आएगा। |
| Ayah 12 |
| عَرَبِي | إِنَّ عَلَينا لَلهُدىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Inna AAalayna lalhuda |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Inna 'alainaa lal hudaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Indeed, it is My responsibility to make the path of truth clear from the path of falsehood. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | निस्संदेह हमारे ज़िम्मे है मार्ग दिखाना |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | हमें राह दिखा देना ज़रूर है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | निःसंदेह असत्य से सत्य का मार्ग स्पष्ट करना हमारे ही ज़िम्मे है। |
| Ayah 13 |
| عَرَبِي | وَإِنَّ لَنا لَلآخِرَةَ وَالأولىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wainna lana lalakhirata waaloola |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And indeed, the afterlife and the worldly life belongs to Me; I do whatever I want with it. That is not the case with anyone else. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और वास्तव में हमारे अधिकार में है आख़िरत और दुनिया भी |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और आख़ेरत और दुनिया (दोनों) ख़ास हमारी चीज़े हैं |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | निःसंदेह हमारे ही अधिकार में आख़िरत का जीवन और हमारे ही अधिकार में सांसारिक जीवन है। हम जो कुछ भी चाहते हैं, उनमें करते हैं और यह अधिकार हमारे अलावा किसी और को नहीं है। |
| Ayah 14 |
| عَرَبِي | فَأَنذَرتُكُم نارًا تَلَظّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faanthartukum naran talaththa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So O people! If you disobey Me, I warn you of the hellfire which is being kindled. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | अतः मैंने तुम्हें दहकती आग से सावधान कर दिया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो हमने तुम्हें भड़कती हुई आग से डरा दिया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तो (ऐ लोगो) यदि तुम अल्लाह की अवज्ञा करते हो, तो मैंने तुम्हें भड़कती हुई आग से सावधान कर दिया है। |
| Ayah 15 |
| عَرَبِي | لا يَصلاها إِلَّا الأَشقَى |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | La yaslaha illa alashqa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Which only the most wretched must endure, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | None will suffer the heat of this fire except the most wretched, i.e. the disbeliever. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | इसमें बस वही पड़ेगा जो बड़ा ही अभागा होगा, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | उसमें बस वही दाख़िल होगा जो बड़ा बदबख्त है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | इस आग की गर्मी को केवल वही व्यक्ति झेलेगा, जो सबसे बड़ा अभागा है और वह काफ़िर है। |
| Ayah 16 |
| عَرَبِي | الَّذي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Allathee kaththaba watawalla |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa |
| English (Pickthall) | He who denieth and turneth away. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Who had denied and turned away. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The one who rejected whatever the Messenger (peace be upon him) brought, and turned away from fulfilling the command of Allah. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | जिसने झुठलाया और मुँह फेरा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | जिसने झुठलाया और मुँह फेर लिया और जो बड़ा परहेज़गार है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | जिसने रसूल सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम के लाए हुए संदेश को झुठला दिया और अल्लाह के आदेश का पालन करने से मुँह फेरा। |
| Ayah 17 |
| عَرَبِي | وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الأَتقَى |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wasayujannabuha alatqa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Far removed from it will be the righteous |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | But the righteous one will avoid it - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The most Allah-conscious of the people will be distanced from it, i.e. Abu Bakr. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और उससे बच जाएगा वह अत्यन्त परहेज़गार व्यक्ति, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | वह उससे बचा लिया जाएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और उससे सबसे बड़े परहेज़गार व्यक्ति अर्थात् अबू बक्र सिद्दीक़ रज़ियल्लाहु अन्हु को बचा लिया जाएगा। |
| Ayah 18 |
| عَرَبِي | الَّذي يُؤتي مالَهُ يَتَزَكّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Allathee yutee malahu yatazakka |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Allazee yu'tee maalahoo yatazakkaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The one who spends his wealth in righteous avenues, to purify himself of sins. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | जो अपना माल देकर अपने आपको निखारता है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | जो अपना माल (ख़ुदा की राह) में देता है ताकि पाक हो जाए |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | जो गुनाहों से पवित्र होने के लिए अपना धन नेकी के रास्तों में ख़र्च करता है। |
| Ayah 19 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِعمَةٍ تُجزىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama liahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa li ahadin 'indahoo min ni'matin tujzaaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And none hath with him any favour for reward, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He does not spend whatever wealth he spends, to repay any favour done to him by anyone. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और हाल यह है कि किसी का उसपर उपकार नहीं कि उसका बदला दिया जा रहा हो, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और लुत्फ ये है कि किसी का उस पर कोई एहसान नहीं जिसका उसे बदला दिया जाता है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वह अपना माल इसलिए नहीं खर्च करता कि उसपर किसी का उपकार है, जिसे वह चुकाना चाहता है। |
| Ayah 20 |
| عَرَبِي | إِلَّا ابتِغاءَ وَجهِ رَبِّهِ الأَعلىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihi alaAAla |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Illab tighaaa'a wajhi rabbihil a 'laa |
| English (Pickthall) | Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Through his spending, he only intends the pleasure of his Lord who is High above His creation. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | बल्कि इससे अभीष्ट केवल उसके अपने उच्च रब के मुख (प्रसन्नता) की चाह है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | बल्कि (वह तो) सिर्फ अपने आलीशान परवरदिगार की ख़ुशनूदी हासिल करने के लिए (देता है) |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वह जो माल ख़र्च करता है, उससे वह केवल अपने रब का चेहरा चाहता है, जो अपनी मखलूक़ पर सर्वोच्च है। |
| Ayah 21 |
| عَرَبِي | وَلَسَوفَ يَرضىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Walasawfa yarda |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa lasawfa yardaa |
| English (Pickthall) | He verily will be content. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And he is going to be satisfied. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And indeed, soon, he will be pleased with the generous reward Allah will grant him. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और वह शीघ्र ही राज़ी हो जाएगा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और वह अनक़रीब भी ख़ुश हो जाएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और निश्चय वह उस उदार बदले से संतुष्ट हो जाएगा, जो अल्लाह उसे प्रदान करेगा। |
