| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah takes an oath on the sun and its rising after breaking onto the eastern horizon. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | साक्षी है सूर्य और उसकी प्रभा, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | सूरज की क़सम और उसकी रौशनी की |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | अल्लाह ने सूरज की क़सम खाई है और उसके पूरब से निकलने के बाद ऊपर चढ़ने के समय की क़सम खाई है। |
| Ayah 2 |
| عَرَبِي | وَالقَمَرِ إِذا تَلاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waalqamari itha talaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wal qamari izaa talaa haa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the moon when she followeth him, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Moon as she follows him; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the moon when it follows it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He also takes an oath on the moon when it follows the sun after it has set. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और चन्द्रमा जबकि वह उनके पीछे आए, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और चाँद की जब उसके पीछे निकले |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और चाँद की क़सम खाई है, जब वह सूरज डूबने के बाद उसके पीछे आए। |
| Ayah 3 |
| عَرَبِي | وَالنَّهارِ إِذا جَلّاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waalnnahari itha jallaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wannahaari izaa jallaa haa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the day when it revealeth him, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the day when it displays it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah also takes an oath on the day when it reveals whatever is on the face of the earth through its light. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और दिन, जबकि वह उसे प्रकट कर दे, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और दिन की जब उसे चमका दे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और दिन की क़सम खाई है, जब वह अपने प्रकाश से धरती के ऊपर मौजूद सारी चीज़ों को प्रकट (ज़ाहिर) कर दे। |
| Ayah 4 |
| عَرَبِي | وَاللَّيلِ إِذا يَغشاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waallayli itha yaghshaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wallaili izaa yaghshaa haa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the night when it enshroudeth him, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Night as it conceals it; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the night when it covers it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And He also takes an oath on the night when it covers the face of the earth, darkening it. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और रात, जबकि वह उसको ढाँक ले |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और रात की जब उसे ढाँक ले |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और रात की क़सम खाई है, जब वह धरती के चेहरे को ढक ले और अंधेरी हो जाए। |
| Ayah 5 |
| عَرَبِي | وَالسَّماءِ وَما بَناها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waalssamai wama banaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wassamaaa'i wa maa banaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the heaven and Him Who built it, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the sky and He who constructed it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And He takes an oath on the sky, taking an oath on its perfect creation. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और आकाश और जैसा कुछ उसे उठाया, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और आसमान की और जिसने उसे बनाया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और आकाश की क़सम खाई है तथा उसके मज़बूत निर्माण की क़सम खाई है। |
| Ayah 6 |
| عَرَبِي | وَالأَرضِ وَما طَحاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waalardi wama tahaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wal ardi wa maa tahaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the earth and Him Who spread it, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the earth and He who spread it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He also takes an oath on the earth: the way it has been spread so that people can live on it. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और धरती और जैसा कुछ उसे बिछाया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और ज़मीन की जिसने उसे बिछाया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और धरती की क़सम खाई है तथा उसके बिछाने व हमवार करने की क़सम खाई, ताकि लोग उसके ऊपर रह सकें। |
| Ayah 7 |
| عَرَبِي | وَنَفسٍ وَما سَوّاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wanafsin wama sawwaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa nafsinw wa maa sawwaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And a soul and Him Who perfected it |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He also takes an oath on each soul, with Allah having created it equally. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और आत्मा और जैसा कुछ उसे सँवारा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और जान की और जिसने उसे दुरूस्त किया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और हर आत्मा की क़सम खाई है तथा अल्लाह के उसे ठीक-ठाक बनाने की क़सम खाई है। |
| Ayah 8 |
| عَرَبِي | فَأَلهَمَها فُجورَها وَتَقواها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Then He made it understand - without teaching it - what was evil so it could be abstained from, and what was good so it could be implemented. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर उसके दिल में डाली उसकी बुराई और उसकी परहेज़गारी |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर उसकी बदकारी और परहेज़गारी को उसे समझा दिया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर उसे किसी शिक्षा के बिना ही यह समझा दिया कि क्या बुरा है ताकि उससे बचे और क्या अच्छा है ताकि उसे करे। |
| Ayah 9 |
| عَرَبِي | قَد أَفلَحَ مَن زَكّاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Qad aflaha man zakkaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Qad aflaha man zakkaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Truly he succeeds that purifies it, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | He has succeeded who purifies it, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Verily, the one who has purified his soul by adorning it with virtuous characteristics and freeing it from evil traits, has succeeded. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | सफल हो गया जिसने उसे विकसित किया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (क़सम है) जिसने उस (जान) को (गनाह से) पाक रखा वह तो कामयाब हुआ |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वह व्यक्ति अपने उद्देश्य में सफल हो गया, जिसने स्वयं को गुणों से सुसज्जित कर लिया और अपने आपको दोषों (बुराइयों) से रहित कर लिया। |
| Ayah 10 |
| عَرَبِي | وَقَد خابَ مَن دَسّاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waqad khaba man dassaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa qad khaaba man dassaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And he fails that corrupts it! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And verily the one who has secretly thrust his soul into sins and disobedience, has lost. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और असफल हुआ जिसने उसे दबा दिया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और जिसने उसे (गुनाह करके) दबा दिया वह नामुराद रहा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और वह व्यक्ति क्षति में पड़ गया, जिसने अपने आपको अवज्ञाओं और पापों में छिपाकर दबा दिया। |
| Ayah 11 |
| عَرَبِي | كَذَّبَت ثَمودُ بِطَغواها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kazzabat Samoodu bi taghwaahaaa |
| English (Pickthall) | (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | After Allah mentions the loss of the one who thrust his soul secretly into sins, He mentions the Thamūd as an example of that, saying: The Thamūd rejected their Prophet Saleh due to their transgressing the limits in committing sins and disobedience. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | समूद ने अपनी सरकशी से झुठलाया, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | क़ौम मसूद ने अपनी सरकशी से (सालेह पैग़म्बर को) झुठलाया, |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | समूद की जाति ने अपने नबी सालेह अलैहिस्सलाम को झुठलाया, क्योंकि वह अवज्ञा और पाप करने में सीमा पार कर चुकी थी। |
| Ayah 12 |
| عَرَبِي | إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشقاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Izim ba'asa ashqaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | When the basest of them broke forth |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | When the most wretched of them was sent forth. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | When the most wretched among them stood up after his people has appointed him for the task. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | जब उनमें का सबसे बड़ा दुर्भाग्यशाली उठ खड़ा हुआ, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | जब उनमें का एक बड़ा बदबख्त उठ खड़ा हुआ |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | जब उसका सबसे दुष्ट और अभागा व्यक्ति, अपने समुदाय के कहने पर उठ खड़ा हुआ। |
| Ayah 13 |
| عَرَبِي | فَقالَ لَهُم رَسولُ اللَّهِ ناقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقياها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqata Allahi wasuqyaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Faqaala lahum Rasoolul laahi naaqatal laahi wa suqiyaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The Messenger of Allah Saleh (peace be upon him) said to them: “Leave the camel of Allah alone; let it drink on its day and do not pursue it intending evil.” |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तो अल्लाह के रसूल ने उनसे कहा, "सावधान, अल्लाह की ऊँटनी और उसके पिलाने (की बारी) से।" |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो ख़ुदा के रसूल (सालेह) ने उनसे कहा कि ख़ुदा की ऊँटनी और उसके पानी पीने से तअर्रुज़ न करना |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तो अल्लाह के रसूल सालेह अलैहिस्सलाम ने उनसे कहा : अल्लाह की ऊँटनी को छोड़ दो और उसे उसकी बारी के दिन में पानी पीने दो। उसको कोई कष्ट न पहुँचाओ। |
| Ayah 14 |
| عَرَبِي | فَكَذَّبوهُ فَعَقَروها فَدَمدَمَ عَلَيهِم رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِم فَسَوّاها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fakaththaboohu faAAaqarooha fadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fakazzaboohu fa'aqaroohaa fadamdama 'alaihim Rabbuhum bizambihim fasaw waahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | But they rejected their Messenger with regards to the camel, and so the most wretched among them killed it with the consent of his people. Therefore, they were all guilty of the crime and so Allah enveloped them into His punishment and destroyed them by a shriek due to their sins. He made them equal in the punishment that He destroyed them with. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | किन्तु उन्होंने उसे झुठलाया और उस ऊँटनी की कूचें काट डाली। अन्ततः उनके रब ने उनके गुनाह के कारण उनपर तबाही डाल दी और उन्हें बराबर कर दिया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | मगर उन लोगों पैग़म्बर को झुठलाया और उसकी कूँचे काट डाली तो ख़ुदा ने उनके गुनाहों सबब से उन पर अज़ाब नाज़िल किया फिर (हलाक करके) बराबर कर दिया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | चुनाँचे उन्होंने ऊँटनी के मामले में अपने रसूल को झुठला दिया और उनके सबसे दुष्ट आदमी ने ऊँटनी को मार डाला, जिसपर उन सब की सहमति थी। इस तरह वे सभी इस गुनाह में भागीदार थे। तो अल्लाह ने उनपर अपना अज़ाब भेज दिया और उन्हें उनके गुनाहों के कारण एक तेज़ आवाज़ के ज़रिए विनष्ट कर दिया और उस सज़ा में उन सब को बराबर रखा, जिसके साथ उन्हें नष्ट किया। |
| Ayah 15 |
| عَرَبِي | وَلا يَخافُ عُقباها |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa laa yakhaafu'uqbaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And for Him is no fear of its consequences. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And He does not fear the consequence thereof. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah set the punishment that destroyed them, upon them, without Him, may He be glorified, fearing any reproach over His actions. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और उसे उसके परिणाम का कोई भय नहीं |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और उसको उनके बदले का कोई ख़ौफ तो है नहीं |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | अल्लाह ने उन्हें उस यातना से पीड़ित किया, जिसने उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया, जबकि उस महिमावान को उसके परिणामों से कोई डर नहीं। |
