| English (Yusuf Ali) | When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); |

| English (Pickthall) | And when souls are reunited, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | When souls are joined with their likeness. A sinner will be joined with a sinner and a pious person will be joined with a pious person. |

| عَرَبِي | عَلِمَت نَفسٌ ما أَحضَرَت |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | 'Alimat nafsum maaa ahdarat |
| English (Pickthall) | (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | When that occurs, every soul will know what actions it sent forward for that day. |

| عَرَبِي | فَلا أُقسِمُ بِالخُنَّسِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasi |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Falaaa uqsimu bil khunnas |
| English (Pickthall) | Oh, but I call to witness the planets, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So I swear by the retreating stars - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah took an oath by the stars that are hidden until they emerge at night. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | अतः नहीं! मैं क़सम खाता हूँ पीछे हटनेवालों की, |

| عَرَبِي | الجَوارِ الكُنَّسِ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Al jawaaril kunnas |
| English (Pickthall) | The stars which rise and set, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Go straight, or hide; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Those that run [their courses] and disappear - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | That run in their orbits and disappear when dawn rises, like a gazelle that goes into its den i.e. its home. |

| عَرَبِي | وَاللَّيلِ إِذا عَسعَسَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Waallayli itha AAasAAasa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wallaili izaa 'as'as |
| English (Pickthall) | And the close of night, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And the Night as it dissipates; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And by the night as it closes in |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He took an oath by the first part of the night when it approaches, and the last part when it recedes. |

| English (Pickthall) | That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, |

| عَرَبِي | ذي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي العَرشِ مَكينٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Zee quwwatin 'inda zil 'arshi makeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | One who possess strength and great rank in the sight of the Lord of the Throne, may He be glorified. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Mutaa'in samma ameen |
| English (Pickthall) | (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He is obeyed by the inhabitants of the heavens and trusted in the revelation that he conveys. |

| عَرَبِي | وَما صاحِبُكُم بِمَجنونٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama sahibukum bimajnoonin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa saahibukum bimajnoon |
| English (Pickthall) | And your comrade is not mad. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And your companion is not [at all] mad. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Muhammad (peace be upon him), who is in your company and whose intellect, trustworthiness and truthfulness you know, is not insane as you slanderously claim. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तुम्हारा साथी कोई दीवाना नहीं, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और (मक्के वालों) तुम्हारे साथी मोहम्मद दीवाने नहीं हैं |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | मुहम्मद सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम, जो तुम्हारे साथ रहते हैं और जिनके विवेक, अमानतदारी और सच्चाई से तुम ख़ूब परिचित हो, कोई दीवाने नहीं हैं, जैसा कि तुम्हारा झूठा दावा है। |
| Ayah 23 |
| عَرَبِي | وَلَقَد رَآهُ بِالأُفُقِ المُبينِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa laqad ra aahu bilufuqil mubeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Your companion had seen Gabriel in the form that he was created in the clear horizon of the sky. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | उसने तो (पराकाष्ठान के) प्रत्यक्ष क्षितिज पर होकर उस (फ़रिश्ते) को देखा है |

| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और तुम्हारे साथी ने जिबरील को आकाश के स्पष्ट क्षितिज पर उनकी असली शक्ल में देखा है। |
| Ayah 24 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما هُوَ عَلَى الغَيبِ بِضَنينٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa huwa 'alal ghaibi bidaneen |
| English (Pickthall) | And he is not avid of the Unseen. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Your companion is not miserly with you by not conveying what he was instructed to convey to you, nor does he take any reward like how fortune-tellers take. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और वह परोक्ष के मामले में कृपण नहीं है, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और वह ग़ैब की बातों के ज़ाहिर करने में बख़ील नहीं |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | और तुम्हारे साथी तुम्हारे लिए कृपण नहीं हैं कि वह तुम्हें वह बात पहुँचाने में कंजूसी करें, जिसका उन्हें तुमको पहुँचाने का आदेश दिया गया है। तथा वह काहिनों की तरह पारिश्रमिक भी नहीं लेते हैं। |
| Ayah 25 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما هُوَ بِقَولِ شَيطانٍ رَجيمٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa huwa biqawli shaitaanir rajeem |
| English (Pickthall) | Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | This Qur’ān is not the speech of a satan distanced from Allah’s mercy. |

| عَرَبِي | فَأَينَ تَذهَبونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Faayna tathhaboona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa ayna tazhaboon |
| English (Pickthall) | Whither then go ye? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | When whither go ye? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So where are you going? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So which path will you tread to deny that it is from Allah after all these evidence?! |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर तुम किधर जा रहे हो? |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर तुम कहाँ जाते हो |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर इन तर्कों के बाद, इसके अल्लाह की ओर से होने का इनकार करने के लिए कौन-सा रास्ता चल रहे हो?! |
| Ayah 27 |
| عَرَبِي | إِن هُوَ إِلّا ذِكرٌ لِلعالَمينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | In huwa illaa zikrul lil'aalameen |
| English (Pickthall) | This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | It is not except a reminder to the worlds |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The Qur’ān is only a reminder and counsel to the jinn and mankind. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | वह तो सारे संसार के लिए बस एक अनुस्मृति है, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | ये सारे जहॉन के लोगों के लिए बस नसीहत है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | क़ुरआन इसके अलावा कुछ नहीं कि जिन्न और मानव जाति के लिए अनुस्मारक और उपदेश है। |
| Ayah 28 |
| عَرَبِي | لِمَن شاءَ مِنكُم أَن يَستَقيمَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeema |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Liman shaaa'a minkum ai yastaqeem |
| English (Pickthall) | Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | For whoever wills among you to take a right course. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | For those of you who wish to be steadfast on the path of truth. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | उसके लिए तो तुममे से सीधे मार्ग पर चलना चाहे |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (मगर) उसी के लिए जो तुममें सीधी राह चले |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | उसके लिए, जो तुममें से सत्य के मार्ग पर चलना चाहे। |
| Ayah 29 |
| عَرَبِي | وَما تَشاءونَ إِلّا أَن يَشاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ العالَمينَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa tashaaa'oona illaaa ai yashaaa 'al laahu Rabbul 'Aalameen |
| English (Pickthall) | And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | You can only will to remain steadfast or do anything else if Allah, the Lord of all created things, wills that. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | और तुम नहीं चाह सकते सिवाय इसके कि सारे जहान का रब अल्लाह चाहे |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और तुम तो सारे जहॉन के पालने वाले ख़ुदा के चाहे बग़ैर कुछ भी चाह नहीं सकते |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तथा तुम सत्य मार्ग पर दृढ़ता या कुछ और नहीं चाह सकते, सिवाय इसके कि सभी प्राणियों का पालनहार अल्लाह उसे चाहे। |
