| عَرَبِي | خَلَقَ الإِنسانَ مِن عَلَقٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Khalaqa alinsana min AAalaqin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Khalaqal insaana min 'alaq |
| English (Pickthall) | Createth man from a clot. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Created man from a clinging substance. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He created the human from a clot of congealed blood, after it had been a drop of semen. |

| عَرَبِي | اقرَأ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكرَمُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Iqra warabbuka alakramu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Iqra wa rab bukal akram |
| English (Pickthall) | Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O Messenger! Read what Allah reveals to you. Your Lord is the most Kind; no kind person can come to His kindness, because He has abundant generosity and goodness. |

| عَرَبِي | الَّذي عَلَّمَ بِالقَلَمِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Allathee AAallama bialqalami |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Al lazee 'allama bil qalam |
| English (Pickthall) | Who teacheth by the pen, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Who taught by the pen - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The one who taught to write, and the revelation, through the pen. |

| عَرَبِي | عَلَّمَ الإِنسانَ ما لَم يَعلَم |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | AAallama alinsana ma lam yaAAlam |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | 'Al lamal insaana ma lam y'alam |
| English (Pickthall) | Teacheth man that which he knew not. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Taught man that which he knew not. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Taught man that which he knew not. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He taught the human that which he did not know. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | मनुष्य को वह ज्ञान प्रदान किया जिस वह न जानता था |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | उसीने इन्सान को वह बातें बतायीं जिनको वह कुछ जानता ही न था |

| Ayah 6 |
| عَرَبِي | كَلّا إِنَّ الإِنسانَ لَيَطغىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla inna alinsana layatgha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kallaa innal insaana layatghaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, but verily man is rebellious |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! [But] indeed, man transgresses |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Truly, indeed, the transgressing human i.e. Abu Jahl, has crossed the limit in overstepping the limits of Allah. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कदापि नहीं, मनुष्य सरकशी करता है, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | सुन रखो बेशक इन्सान जो अपने को ग़नी देखता है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वास्तव में, अबू जह्ल की तरह दुराचारी व्यक्ति अल्लाह की सीमाओं का उल्लंघन करने में हद को पार कर जाता है। |
| Ayah 7 |
| عَرَبِي | أَن رَآهُ استَغنىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | An raahu istaghna |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Ar-ra aahus taghnaa |
| English (Pickthall) | That he thinketh himself independent! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Because he sees himself self-sufficient. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Just because he has seen him showing no need of the prestige and wealth he possesses. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | इसलिए कि वह अपने आपको आत्मनिर्भर देखता है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो सरकश हो जाता है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | इसलिए कि वह खुद को देखता है कि वह अपने पास मौजूद प्रतिष्ठा और धन के कारण बेनियाज़ हो गया है। |
| Ayah 8 |
| عَرَبِي | إِنَّ إِلىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجعىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Inna ila rabbika alrrujAAa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Innna ilaa rabbikar ruj'aa |
| English (Pickthall) | Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, to your Lord is the return. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O human! Indeed, to your Lord is the return on the Day of Judgement, where He will requite each person with what he deserves. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | निश्चय ही तुम्हारे रब ही की ओर पलटना है |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | बेशक तुम्हारे परवरदिगार की तरफ (सबको) पलटना है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | निश्चय (ऐ इनसान) क़ियामत के दिन तेरे रब ही की ओर वापस लौटना है। फिर वह हर एक को वह बदला देगा, जिसका वह हक़दार है। |
| Ayah 9 |
| عَرَبِي | أَرَأَيتَ الَّذي يَنهىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Araayta allathee yanha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Ara-aital lazee yanhaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Seest thou one who forbids- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Have you seen the one who forbids |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Have you seen anything more shocking than the matter of Abu Jahl, who prevented. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | क्या तुमने देखा उस व्यक्ति को |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | भला तुमने उस शख़्श को भी देखा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | क्या आपने अबू जह्ल के मामले से अधिक आश्चर्यजनक कुछ देखा, जो रोकता है। |
| Ayah 10 |
| عَرَبِي | عَبدًا إِذا صَلّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | AAabdan itha salla |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | 'Abdan iza sallaa |
| English (Pickthall) | A slave when he prayeth? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | A votary when he (turns) to pray? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | A servant when he prays? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He prevented My servant Muhammad (peace be upon him) when he performed prayer near the Ka‘bah. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | जो एक बन्दे को रोकता है, जब वह नमाज़ अदा करता है? - |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | जो एक बन्दे को जब वह नमाज़ पढ़ता है तो वह रोकता है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | हमारे बंदे मुहम्मद सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम को, जब वह काबा के पास नमाज़ पढ़ते हैं। |
| Ayah 11 |
| عَرَبِي | أَرَأَيتَ إِن كانَ عَلَى الهُدىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Araayta in kana AAala alhuda |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Ara-aita in kana 'alal hudaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Have you seen if he is upon guidance |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | What do you think will happen, if this person who has been prevented, is following guidance and foresight from his Lord? |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तुम्हारा क्या विचार है? यदि वह सीधे मार्ग पर हो, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | भला देखो तो कि अगर ये राहे रास्त पर हो या परहेज़गारी का हुक्म करे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | क्या आपने देखा कि यदि यह व्यक्ति जिसे रोका जा रहा है, अपने पालनहार की ओर से मार्गदर्शन और अंतर्दृष्टि पर है?! |
| Ayah 12 |
| عَرَبِي | أَو أَمَرَ بِالتَّقوىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Aw amara bialttaqwa |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Au amara bit taqwaa |
| English (Pickthall) | Or enjoineth piety? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Or enjoins Righteousness? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Or enjoins righteousness? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Or that he instructs the people to be mindful of Allah by fulfilling His commands and refrain from the things he has not allowed; can such a person be prevented? |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | या परहेज़गारी का हुक्म दे (उसके अच्छा होने में क्या संदेह है) |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (तो रोकना कैसा) |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | या वह लोगों को अल्लाह के आदेशों का पालन करके और उसकी मना की हुई चीज़ों से बचकर उससे डरने का आदेश देता हो, क्या इस तरह के व्यक्ति को रोका जाना चाहिए?! |
| Ayah 13 |
| عَرَبِي | أَرَأَيتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Araayta in kaththaba watawalla |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Ara-aita in kaz zaba wa ta walla |
| English (Pickthall) | Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Have you seen if he denies and turns away - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | What do you think will happen if this preventer rejected whatever the Messenger brought and turned away from it? Does he not fear Allah? |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तुम्हारा क्या विचार है? यदि उस (रोकनेवाले) ने झुठलाया और मुँह मोड़ा (तो उसके बुरा होने में क्या संदेह है) - |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | भला देखो तो कि अगर उसने (सच्चे को) झुठला दिया और (उसने) मुँह फेरा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | भला बतलाओ तो सही कि यदि इस रोकने वाले न रसूल के लाए हुए संदेश को झुठलाया और उससे मुँह फेर लिया, तो क्या वह अल्लाह से डरता नहीं है?! |
| Ayah 14 |
| عَرَبِي | أَلَم يَعلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرىٰ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Alam yaAAlam bianna Allaha yara |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Alam y'alam bi-an nal lahaa yaraa |
| English (Pickthall) | Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Does he not know that Allah sees? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Does the preventer of this servant from prayer not know that Allah sees whatever he does, and that nothing is hidden from Him? |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | क्या उसने नहीं जाना कि अल्लाह देख रहा है? |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (तो नतीजा क्या होगा) क्या उसको ये मालूम नहीं कि ख़ुदा यक़ीनन देख रहा है |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | क्या इस बंदे को नमाज़ से रोकने वाले व्यक्ति ने नहीं जाना कि वह जो कुछ कर रहा है, अल्लाह उसे देख रहा है, उससे उसकी कोई चीज़ छिपी नहीं है?! |
| Ayah 15 |
| عَرَبِي | كَلّا لَئِن لَم يَنتَهِ لَنَسفَعًا بِالنّاصِيَةِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla lain lam yantahi lanasfaAAan bialnnasiyati |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kalla la illam yantahi la nasfa'am bin nasiyah |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | It is not as this ignorant person imagines; if he does not stop causing harm to My servant and rejecting him, I will definitely seize him and drag him violently by the top of his head, towards the hellfire. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कदापि नहीं, यदि वह बाज़ न आया तो हम चोटी पकड़कर घसीटेंगे, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | देखो अगर वह बाज़ न आएगा तो हम परेशानी के पट्टे पकड़ के घसीटेंगे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | मामला वैसा नहीं है, जैसा इस मूर्ख ने समझ रखा है, यदि उसने हमारे बंदे को कष्ट पहुँचाना और उसे झुठलाना बंद नहीं किया, तो हम उसके माथे की लट पकड़कर जहन्नम की ओर घसीटेंगे। |

| عَرَبِي | ناصِيَةٍ كاذِبَةٍ خاطِئَةٍ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Nasiyatin kathibatin khatiatin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Nasiyatin kazi batin khaatiyah |
| English (Pickthall) | The lying, sinful forelock - |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | A lying, sinful forelock! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | A lying, sinning forelock. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The owner of that forehead is a liar in speech and erroneous in action. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | झूठी, ख़ताकार चोटी |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | झूठे ख़तावार की पेशानी के पट्टे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | उस माथे की लट वाला अपने कथन में झूठा और अपने कार्य में गलत है। |
| Ayah 17 |
| عَرَبِي | فَليَدعُ نادِيَهُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | FalyadAAu nadiyahu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fal yad'u naadiyah |
| English (Pickthall) | Then let him call upon his henchmen! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then let him call his associates; |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So when he is seized by his forehead towards the hellfire, let him call out to his companions and associates asking for their help to save him from the punishment. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | अब बुला ले वह अपनी मजलिस को! |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तो वह अपने याराने जलसा को बुलाए हम भी जल्लाद फ़रिश्ते को बुलाएँगे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तो - जिस समय उसे उसके माथे की लट पकड़कर आग की ओर घसीटा जाएगा - वह अपने साथियों और अपनी सभा के लोगों को उनसे मदद लेने के लिए बुलाए ताकि वे उसे अज़ाब से बचा लें। |
| Ayah 18 |
| عَرَبِي | سَنَدعُ الزَّبانِيَةَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | SanadAAu alzzabaniyata |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Sanad 'uz zabaaniyah |
| English (Pickthall) | We will call the guards of hell. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | We will call the angels of Hell. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | I will call upon the gatekeepers of hell: the fierce angels who do not disobey My command when I command them, and do whatever they are commanded to do. It will then be seen which of the two parties are stronger and more capable. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | हम भी बुलाए लेते है सिपाहियों को |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | (ऐ रसूल) देखो हरगिज़ उनका कहना न मानना |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | हम भी जहन्नम के कठोर दिल फ़रिश्तों को बुला लेंगे, जो अल्लाह के आदेश का उल्लंघन नहीं करते और वे वही करते हैं, जिसका उन्हें आदेश दिया जाता है। फिर वह देखे कि दोनों में से कौन-सा समूह अधिक शक्तिशाली और अधिक सक्षम है। |
| Ayah 19 |
| عَرَبِي | كَلّا لا تُطِعهُ وَاسجُد وَاقتَرِب ۩ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla la tutiAAhu waosjud waiqtarib |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kalla; la tuti'hu wasjud waqtarib |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | It is not as this oppressor thinks: that he can cause any harm to you. So do not follow him in command or prohibition; rather, prostrate to Allah and draw closer to Him through acts of obedience, because that is how you can draw closer to Him. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कदापि नहीं, उसकी बात न मानो और सजदे करते और क़रीब होते रहो |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | और सजदे करते रहो और कुर्ब हासिल करो (19) (सजदा) |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | मामला वैसा नहीं है, जैसा इस ज़ालिम ने समझ रखा है कि वह आपको कोई नुक़सान पहुँचा सकता है। अतः आप उसके किसी आदेश या निषेध को न मानें, बल्कि अल्लाह को सजदा करें और आज्ञाकारिता के कार्यों के द्वारा उसके निकट हो जाएँ, क्योंकि वे उससे निकट कर देती हैं। |
