| English (Pickthall) | Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O people! Boasting with one another over wealth and offspring has preoccupied you from the obedience of Allah. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | तुम्हें एक-दूसरे के मुक़ाबले में बहुतायत के प्रदर्शन और घमंड ने ग़फ़़लत में डाल रखा है, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | कुल व माल की बहुतायत ने तुम लोगों को ग़ाफ़िल रखा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | (ऐ लोगो) तुम्हें धन और संतान पर आपस में गर्व ने अल्लाह की आज्ञाकारिता से असावधान कर दिया। |
| Ayah 2 |
| عَرَبِي | حَتّىٰ زُرتُمُ المَقابِرَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Hatta zurtumu almaqabira |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir |
| English (Pickthall) | Until ye come to the graves. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Until ye visit the graves. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Until you visit the graveyards. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Until you die and enter your graves. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | यहाँ तक कि तुम क़ब्रिस्तानों में पहुँच गए |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | यहाँ तक कि तुम लोगों ने कब्रें देखी (मर गए) |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | यहाँ तक कि तुम मर एग और अपनी कब्रों में जा पहुँचे। |
| Ayah 3 |
| عَرَبِي | كَلّا سَوفَ تَعلَمونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla sawfa taAAlamoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, but ye will come to know! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! You are going to know. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | It is not befitting that boasting with one another over that preoccupies you from the obedience of Allah; you will soon know the consequence of that preoccupation. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कुछ नहीं, तुम शीघ्र ही जान लोगे |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | देखो तुमको अनक़रीब ही मालुम हो जाएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | तुम्हें धन और संतान पर में गर्व में पड़कर अल्लाह की आज्ञाकारिता से ग़ाफ़िल नहीं होना चाहिए था। तुम्हें शीघ्र ही उस ग़फ़लत का परिणाम पता चल जाएगा। |

| عَرَبِي | ثُمَّ كَلّا سَوفَ تَعلَمونَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoona |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, but ye will come to know! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Again, ye soon shall know! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then no! You are going to know. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | You will surely realise its outcome. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर, कुछ नहीं, तुम्हें शीघ्र ही मालूम हो जाएगा - |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर देखो तुम्हें अनक़रीब ही मालूम हो जाएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर तुम जल्द ही उसके परिणाम से अवगत हो जाओगे। |
| Ayah 5 |
| عَرَبِي | كَلّا لَو تَعلَمونَ عِلمَ اليَقينِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeeni |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!) |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty... |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Truly, if you were to know with certainty that you are to be resurrected to Allah, and that He will requite you for your actions, you would not become preoccupied with boasting with one another over wealth and offspring. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कुछ नहीं, अगर तुम विश्वसनीय ज्ञान के रूप में जान लो! (तो तुम धन-दौलत के पुजारी न बनो) - |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | देखो अगर तुमको यक़ीनी तौर पर मालूम होता (तो हरगिज़ ग़ाफिल न होते) |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वास्तव में, यदि तुम निश्चितता के साथ जानते लेते कि तुम अल्लाह के पास उठाए जाने वाले हो और यह है कि वह तुम्हें तुम्हारे कर्मों का बदला देगा; तो तुम धन और संतान पर आपस में गर्व करने में व्यस्त न होते। |

| عَرَبِي | لَتَرَوُنَّ الجَحيمَ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Latarawunna aljaheema |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Latara-wun nal jaheem |
| English (Pickthall) | For ye will behold hell-fire. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | You will surely see the Hellfire. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | By Allah! You will definitely witness the hellfire on the Day of Judgement. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | अवश्य ही तुम भड़कती आग से दो-चार होगे |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | तुम लोग ज़रूर दोज़ख़ को देखोगे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | अल्लाह की क़सम, तुम क़ियामत के दिन अवश्य जहन्नम को देखोगे। |

| عَرَبِي | ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّها عَينَ اليَقينِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Thumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeeni |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen |
| English (Pickthall) | Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Then, you will definitely see it in a way you will become undoubtedly convinced. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर सुनो, उसे अवश्य देखोगे इस दशा में कि वह यथावत विश्वास होगा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर तुम लोग यक़ीनी देखना देखोगे |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर तुम अवश्य उसे निश्चित रूप से देखोगे, जिसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है। |
| Ayah 8 |
| عَرَبِي | ثُمَّ لَتُسأَلُنَّ يَومَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعيمِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Thumma latusalunna yawmaithin AAani alnnaAAeemi |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem |
| English (Pickthall) | Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Then Allah will surely ask you on that day regarding the health, wealth etc. that He favoured you with. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | फिर निश्चय ही उस दिन तुमसे नेमतों के बारे में पूछा जाएगा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | फिर तुमसे नेअमतों के बारें ज़रूर बाज़ पुर्स की जाएगी |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | फिर उस दिन अल्लाह तुमसे उन नेमतों के बारे में अवश्य पूछेगा, जो उसने तुम्हें स्वास्थ्य और धन आदि के रूप में प्रदान की हैं। |
