| عَرَبِي | وَيلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wai lul-li kulli hu mazatil-lumaza |
| English (Pickthall) | Woe unto every slandering traducer, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Woe to every scorner and mocker |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Evil consequences and a severe punishment awaits the one who frequently backbites the people and taunts them. |

| عَرَبِي | الَّذي جَمَعَ مالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Allathee jamaAAa malan waAAaddadahu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Al-lazi jama'a maalaw wa'addadah |
| English (Pickthall) | Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The one whose only concern is to amass wealth and count it; he has no other concern. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | जो माल इकट्ठा करता और उसे गिनता रहा |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | जो माल को जमा करता है और गिन गिन कर रखता है |

| عَرَبِي | يَحسَبُ أَنَّ مالَهُ أَخلَدَهُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Yahsabu anna malahu akhladahu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Yahsabu anna maalahu akhladah |
| English (Pickthall) | He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He thinks that the wealth of his he amasses will save him from death, and that he will remain forever in this worldly life. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | समझता है कि उसके माल ने उसे अमर कर दिया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | वह समझता है कि उसका माल उसे हमेशा ज़िन्दा बाक़ी रखेगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | वह समझता है कि उसका माल जो उसने जमा किया है, उसे मौत से बचा लेगा और वह दुनिया में अमर रहेगा। |

| عَرَبِي | كَلّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الحُطَمَةِ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Kalla layunbathanna fee alhutamati |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kalla layum ba zanna fil hutamah |
| English (Pickthall) | Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | It is not as this ignorant one thinks; he will surely be thrown into the fire of hell that crushes and breaks everything that is thrown into it, due to its immense strength. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | कदापि नहीं, वह चूर-चूर कर देनेवाली में फेंक दिया जाएगा, |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | हरगिज़ नहीं वह तो ज़रूर हुतमा में डाला जाएगा |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | मामला वैसा नहीं है, जैसा कि इस जाहिल ने कल्पना की है, निश्चय वह ज़रूर जहन्नम की आग में फेंका जाएगा, जो इतनी शक्तिशाली है कि उसमें डाली गई हर चीज़ को तोड़कर रख देगी। |

| عَرَبِي | وَما أَدراكَ مَا الحُطَمَةُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Wama adraka ma alhutamatu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Wa maa adraaka mal-hutamah |
| English (Pickthall) | Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And what can make you know what is the Crusher? |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | O Messenger! What do you know of this fire that smashes everything that is thrown into it? |

| عَرَبِي | نارُ اللَّهِ الموقَدَةُ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Naru Allahi almooqadatu |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Narul laahil-mooqada |
| English (Pickthall) | (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled, |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Indeed, it is the blazing fire of Allah. |

| عَرَبِي | الَّتي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الأَفئِدَةِ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Al latee tat tali'u 'alalafidah |
| English (Pickthall) | Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Which mounts directed at the hearts. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | The fire that penetrates the bodies of the people until it reaches their hearts. |

| عَرَبِي | إِنَّها عَلَيهِم مُؤصَدَةٌ |
| Transliteration (Tanzil) | lnnaha AAalayhim musadatun |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Innaha 'alaihim moosada |
| English (Pickthall) | Lo! it is closed in on them |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | It shall be made into a vault over them, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Indeed, it will close up around those that will be punished with it. |

| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fee AAamadin mumaddadatin |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fee 'amadim-mu mad dadah |
| English (Pickthall) | In outstretched columns. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | In columns outstretched. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | In extended columns. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | For a prolonged, lengthy period of time, so long that they will never leave it. |
