| English (Qarai) | by those who direct the affairs [of creatures]: |
| English (Hilali) | And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | He also takes an oath on the angels who execute the decree of Allah that He has commanded them to, i.e. the angels appointed to the deeds of the servants. He takes an oath on all that, that He will definitely resurrect them for accounting and requital. |

| English (Yusuf Ali) | They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? |

| English (Qarai) | They will say, ‘Are we being returned to our earlier state? |
| English (Hilali) | They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? |

| English (Pickthall) | They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." |
| English (Qarai) | They will say, ‘This is, then, a ruinous return!’ |
| English (Hilali) | They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | They say: “If we are returned, that return will be a loss, and the person returning will be defrauded.” |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | वे कहते है, "तब तो लौटना बड़े ही घाटे का होगा।" |

| عَرَبِي | فَإِنَّما هِيَ زَجرَةٌ واحِدَةٌ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa inna ma hiya zajratuw-waahida |
| English (Pickthall) | Surely it will need but one shout, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Indeed, it will be but one shout, |
| English (Qarai) | Yet it will be only a single shout, |
| English (Hilali) | But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). |

| عَرَبِي | فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكالَ الآخِرَةِ وَالأولىٰ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa-akha zahul laahu nakalal aakhirati wal-oola. |

| English (Yusuf Ali) | But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. |
| English (Qarai) | So Allah seized him with the punishment of this life and the Hereafter. |
| English (Hilali) | So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | So Allah seized him and punished him in the world by drowning him in the sea, and He will punish him in the afterlife by entering him into the severest punishment. |

| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | परंतु जो व्यक्ति अपने पालनहार के सामने खड़ा होने से डर गया और अपने नफ़्स को अल्लाह की हराम की हुई चीज़ का पालन करने से रोक लिया, जिसकी उसका नफ़्स इच्छा करता है, तो जन्नत ही उसका ठिकाना है, जहाँ वह निवास ग्रहण करेगा। |
