| Transliteration (Unicode) | 'Alimat nafsum maaa ahdarat |
| English (Pickthall) | (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. |
| English (Qarai) | then a soul shall know what it has readied [for itself]. |
| English (Hilali) | (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). |

| عَرَبِي | فَلا أُقسِمُ بِالخُنَّسِ |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Falaaa uqsimu bil khunnas |
| English (Pickthall) | Oh, but I call to witness the planets, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | So I swear by the retreating stars - |
| English (Qarai) | So I swear by the stars that return, |
| English (Hilali) | So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Allah took an oath by the stars that are hidden until they emerge at night. |
