| عَرَبِي | فَأَلهَمَها فُجورَها وَتَقواها |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, |
| English (Qarai) | and inspired it with [discernment between] its virtues and vices: |
| English (Hilali) | Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Then He made it understand - without teaching it - what was evil so it could be abstained from, and what was good so it could be implemented. |

| ગુજરાતી (Rabila) | ૮. પછી તેના દિલમાં તે વાતો પણ નાખી દીધી, જે તેના માટે ખરાબ હોય અને તે વાતો પણ, જે તેના માટે ડરવાવાળી હોય. |

| English (Qarai) | one who purifies it is felicitous, |
| English (Hilali) | Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | Verily, the one who has purified his soul by adorning it with virtuous characteristics and freeing it from evil traits, has succeeded. |

| عَرَبِي | وَقَد خابَ مَن دَسّاها |

| English (Pickthall) | And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. |

| English (Saheeh Int’l) | And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. |
| English (Qarai) | and one who betrays it fails. |
| English (Hilali) | And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | And verily the one who has secretly thrust his soul into sins and disobedience, has lost. |

| Transliteration (Unicode) | Kazzabat Samoodu bi taghwaahaaa |
| English (Pickthall) | (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, |
| English (Qarai) | The [people of] Thamud denied [Allah’s signs] out of their rebellion, |
| English (Hilali) | Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | After Allah mentions the loss of the one who thrust his soul secretly into sins, He mentions the Thamūd as an example of that, saying: The Thamūd rejected their Prophet Saleh due to their transgressing the limits in committing sins and disobedience. |

| हिन्दी (Suhail) | क़ौम मसूद ने अपनी सरकशी से (सालेह पैग़म्बर को) झुठलाया, |

| عَرَبِي | فَقالَ لَهُم رَسولُ اللَّهِ ناقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقياها |

| English (Pickthall) | And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" |

| English (Abridged Expl.) | The Messenger of Allah Saleh (peace be upon him) said to them: “Leave the camel of Allah alone; let it drink on its day and do not pursue it intending evil.” |

| عَرَبِي | فَكَذَّبوهُ فَعَقَروها فَدَمدَمَ عَلَيهِم رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِم فَسَوّاها |

| Transliteration (Tanzil) | Fakaththaboohu faAAaqarooha fadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha |
| Transliteration (Unicode) | Fakazzaboohu fa'aqaroohaa fadamdama 'alaihim Rabbuhum bizambihim fasaw waahaa |
| English (Pickthall) | But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). |
| English (Yusuf Ali) | Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! |
| English (Saheeh Int’l) | But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. |
| English (Qarai) | But they impugned him and hamstrung her. So their Lord took them unawares by night because of their sin, and levelled it. |
| English (Hilali) | Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)! |
| English (Abridged Expl.) | But they rejected their Messenger with regards to the camel, and so the most wretched among them killed it with the consent of his people. Therefore, they were all guilty of the crime and so Allah enveloped them into His punishment and destroyed them by a shriek due to their sins. He made them equal in the punishment that He destroyed them with. |
| हिन्दी (Farooq) | किन्तु उन्होंने उसे झुठलाया और उस ऊँटनी की कूचें काट डाली। अन्ततः उनके रब ने उनके गुनाह के कारण उनपर तबाही डाल दी और उन्हें बराबर कर दिया |
| हिन्दी (Suhail) | मगर उन लोगों पैग़म्बर को झुठलाया और उसकी कूँचे काट डाली तो ख़ुदा ने उनके गुनाहों सबब से उन पर अज़ाब नाज़िल किया फिर (हलाक करके) बराबर कर दिया |
| हिन्दी तफ्सीर (Mokhtasar) | चुनाँचे उन्होंने ऊँटनी के मामले में अपने रसूल को झुठला दिया और उनके सबसे दुष्ट आदमी ने ऊँटनी को मार डाला, जिसपर उन सब की सहमति थी। इस तरह वे सभी इस गुनाह में भागीदार थे। तो अल्लाह ने उनपर अपना अज़ाब भेज दिया और उन्हें उनके गुनाहों के कारण एक तेज़ आवाज़ के ज़रिए विनष्ट कर दिया और उस सज़ा में उन सब को बराबर रखा, जिसके साथ उन्हें नष्ट किया। |
| ગુજરાતી (Rabila) | ૧૪. તે લોકોએ પોતાના પયગંબરને જુઠલાવ્યા, તે ઊંટણી ના હાથ-પગ કાપી નાખ્યા. બસ! તેમના પાલનહારે તેમના ગુનાહોના કારણે તેમના ઉપર એવી આપત્તિ ઉતારી કે તેમને નષ્ટ કરી સપાટ કરી દીધા. |
